Hosting a Table: All You Need to Know

1. People are Honoured - You are doing your role when people are respected, seen, and dignified. 

2. Space is Created - You are doing your role when there is space for people to share openly.

3. Model Open Dialogue - You are doing your role when you are leaning and modelling this posture for others:
   
   1. Roundtable dialogue  
   2. Humility & openness
   3. Solidarity in our humanity

Expert culture vs. ongoing presence

We don't have to have all the answers -- we just have to have an ongoing presence. It's not about what you say, but how you say it. We are creating space for people to dialogue and be taken in.

Jesus did not put his disciples through years of schooling and training before sending them out. He encountered them, loved them, modeled the Way to them, and then sent them out. "Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road." (Luke 10:4).
